Accreditation is the proof that an academic program has met standards essential to produce graduates ready to enter the computing and the engineering discipline. it is important for different constituencies of the target academic program. The quality of education makes big differences in students’ career. On the other hand, the accreditation process yields data and insights for program’s institution that can be used to deliver the best educational experience and preparation for future students. Accreditation also promotes quality standards that are applied around the globe. In summary, accreditation promotes excellence in education by focusing on continuous quality improvement processes. As a result, the world advances and achieves more civilization.
The accreditation process examines every aspect of offering the target program to make sure that it achieves the minimum standards. The American Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) oversees accreditation worldwide. In this presentation, we go over the ABET accreditation process with a focus on the Assessment Process of Course Learning Outcomes.
The accreditation process occurs every six years. There are three key steps:
1) Developing the self-study Report addressing 9 criteria of accreditation.
2) On-Site Assessment:
3) Commission Review and Decision:
Description of the assessment process of course learning outcomes.
